Honeywell Sulf-N® Ammonium Sulfate

Crop Specifics

Sulf-N fertilizers satisfy the growing need for sulfur created by clean air regulations and feed crops a more efficient form of nitrogen. Click on the links below for crop specific research data and agronomic insights from university, extension and industry.

Alfalfa
As sulfur deficiencies spread to new areas, alfalfa is often the first crop to exhibit symptoms. Application of ammonium sulfate can increase yield in both light and heavy soil types.

Canola
Applying nitrogen without sulfur can reduce canola yield by up to 75%.

Corn
Early planting, reduced tillage and continuous cropping increase the potential for yield increases from preplant or starter applications of ammonium sulfate.

Cotton
Cotton may grow out of sulfur deficiency symptoms, but yield loss will still occur if S is not applied by flowering.

Forage Grasses
Ammonium sulfate is an excellent alternative to ammonium nitrate and has performed as well or better in university testing.

Potatoes
N loss from leaching can take a big bite out of potato yields. Ammonium sulfate resists leaching and increased yield in university testing.

Rice
Ammonium sulfate fertilizer is up to five times less volatile than urea and increased rice yields by up to 30 bu/A in university testing.

Vegetables
Ammonium is the preferred N form for vegetable production, providing readily available and easily digested nitrogen.

Wheat
Ammonium sulfate favors fall tillering, which encourages larger kernels and more kernels per head versus spring tillering.
