Seelze facility successfully certifies against automotive industry standard,
ISO/TS 16949
During the week of April 24th the Seelze, Germany facility re-certified
against ISO 9001 (quality) and ISO 14001 (environmental). In addition, the
facility successfully certified against the stringent ISO/TS 1694 for suppliers
of the automotive industry.
Preparation began two years ago, when the site realized that certification was
important to customers and that the requirements for certification was very
much in line with Honeywell’s Six Sigma Plus culture and the new Honeywell
Operating System. With the help of an external consultant, the team began an
initiative in the summer of 2004 to understand the norm and its implications
for the chemical industry. Next, all site processes were examined from a
standpoint of this ambitious industry standard. Improvements were identified
and put into practice over an extended period of time. The project included
operations, analytics, technology, maintenance, supply chain and all
functions.
All departments and functions were audited and after one week of intense
discussions and presentations, the efforts were crowned with success. The
certificate for compliance with ISO/TS 16949 will be presented to Honeywell
Specialty Chemicals Seelze GmbH shortly. The Seelze site is one of the very few
within Honeywell Specialty Materials to be ISO/TS 16949 certified.
This certification is a great accomplishment to the site and shows that the
facility takes customer requirements seriously and continues to strive for
customer excellence and process improvement. The exercise will be a terrific
preparation for the implementation of the Honeywell Operating System which
begins in a few weeks.
