| Honeywell Electronic Materials is an established leader in the development
and production of innovative planarizing materials for the semiconductor
industry. Now, that expertise and experience is being applied to the
optoelectronics industry for the production of flat panel displays. |
| |
| In October of 2006, Honeywell announced an agreement with United States
Display Consortium (USDC), a public/private partnership chartered with
developing the supply chain for the flat panel display industry, to develop
new materials for flat panel displays. |
| |
| The work with the USDC is now complete and has resulted in new planarizing
materials that have been incorporated into devices at the Arizona State
University Flexible Display Center (ASU FDC). |
| |
| Thin film transistors are a critical component of flat panel displays and
planarization is critical for creating the uniformly flat surfaces necessary
during the production of these transistors. Honeywell’s expertise in the
development and production of thin films for uniformly covering surfaces is
significant and that expertise enabled these new materials for the flat panel
display industry. |
| |
| Honeywell planarizing materials for flat panel displays improve
manufacturability in terms of both costs and yields and also improve product
performance, delivering a better viewing experience with the resulting
display. |
