 | For the air-conditioning industry the long-term replacement of
Genetron® 22 (HCFC-22) was a primary focus. A key Honeywell long-term solution
came with the development of the energy efficient HFC R-410A, a non-ozone
depleting nearly-azeotropic mixture of Genetron® 32 and Genetron® 125. R-410A
together with other long-term and intermediate Genetron® 22 |
| replacements offered by Honeywell, are able to deliver solutions that match
with OEM's and specialist installers needs for greater efficiency and safe
handling. |

| In new air-conditioning and heat pump equipment for residential
applications, Honeywell's Genetron® 410A provides an optimal, long-term
replacement for Genetron® 22. When designed and optimized for this refrigerant,
a system can deliver a 5% gain in efficiency and, generally, a 10% increase in
capacity compared to other Genetron® 22 alternatives. Additionally, as a higher
pressure refrigerant, Genetron® 410A enables the design of more compact
equipment thereby giving greater installation flexibility. |

| A further alternative is provided by Genetron® 407C. A blend of Genetron®
32, Genetron® 125 and Genetron® 134a, Genetron® 407C can be used for new
equipment as well as retrofit existing Genetron® 22 systems. Relative to
Genetron® 22 there is little to no capacity decrease with Genetron® 407C,
however some loss of efficiency will occur. In designing for new equipment,
some design changes may be required if retention of efficiency ratings are
required. Additionally, in some systems, changes to heat exchangers may be
required due to the increased temperature glide of the blend. |
