Honeywell Specialty Films research and development efforts have focused on
extending the range of Aclar® fluoropolymer products to enable an optimum
choice of performance and economics for your application. You can dial in the
exact properties you need from several grades of Aclar® fluoropolymer film or
Aclam® laminates. And the more ways to succeed, the more likely your
success.Three grades of Aclar® PCTFE homopolymer barrier film are available
with ultra high moisture barrier properties for pharmaceutical and medical
applications:
Aclar® UltRx 4000 (4.00 mil/102µ)
Aclar® UltRx 3000 (3.00 mil/76µ)
Aclar® UltRx 2000 (2.00 mil/51µ)
These barrier films are usually selected for the most demanding applications,
such as high moisture sensitivity or the need to pass the accelerated stability
trials as set forth by ICH.
Three additional grades of Aclar® film provide moisture barrier capabilities in
the mid-to-high range and cost-effectively complement the range of Aclar® ultra
high barrier films:
Aclar® SupRx 900 (0.90 mil/23µ)
Aclar® Rx 20E (0.78 mil/20µ)
Aclar® Rx 160 (0.60 mil/15µ)
Aclar film can be laminated to a wide range of films, including PVC,
polyethylene, polyester, nylon, polypropylene, and other materials. Laminate
properties depend greatly on the particular structure: thicker-gauge laminates
(10-mil PVC to Aclar, for example) are best suited to thermoforming
applications such as blister packaging; thinner-gauge laminates (48-ga PET to
Aclar to polyethylene) are well suited to flexible applications such as
pouching or lidding.
Specifically developed for the medical flexible market, Aclar® Flex is
available in three gauges:
Aclar® Flex 180 (0.7 mil/18µ)
Aclar® Flex 250 (1.0 mil/25µ)
Aclar® Flex 380 (1.5 mil/38µ)
