The traditional Aclar® laminate structures can and are being used for many of these novel drug delivery technologies
However, in many cases, a special structure is needed, either for reasons of
strength, stiffness, moisture, or oxygen protection; use of a pouch versus
blister packaging; or simply because the delivery system is not your standard
tablet.
Honeywell has a focused effort in the area of packaging of new drug delivery
systems.
The effort will rely heavily on Honeywell specialists who have a depth of
expertise in a range of packaging disciplines pertinent to the entire packaging
life cycle - from material and package development to production.
To date, Honeywell has been very active in the design, development, and supply
of packaging and materials for traditional tablets and capsules, and more
recently, the various rapid-dissolve dosage systems and pulmonary drug delivery
technologies.
Combinations of materials can be designed for each individual system, depending
on the need of the system and the customer.
