 Safety
A safe working environment in our plants, laboratories and administrative
offices is essential to our success not only as a chemical and materials
company, but as an enterprise that is dependant upon thousands of people around
the world.
People are Honeywell Specialty Materials' most important asset, and their
safety is not just a management goal or an individual task safety must be a
value embraced by all employees. We are adamant that everyone who is part of
Honeywell Specialty Materials take safety to be their responsibility and embed
it into their daily life.
The success of Honeywell Specialty Materials' safety performance and
advancement of the safety culture is dependant on our employees' performance.
To achieve these goals, we constantly review and evaluate our safety practices
and standards and follow these standards as we perform our daily activities. We
also implement new safety management systems and audit processes to help find
new ways to make our facilities safer.
So far in 2005, Honeywell Specialty Materials achieved several honors and
milestones for safety performance, including:
 | The Claymont, Delaware, United States, facility becoming RC14001 certified
by the American Chemistry Council (ACC), which incorporates requirements for
ISO 14001 certification and broadens them to include Health, Safety and
Environment (HS&E) and security. |
 | The U.S. Occupational Health and Safety Administration (OSHA) recommending
the Spokane, Washington (U.S.) for Star certification in its Volunteer
Protection Program (VPP). The facility also achieved 2 million hours without a
lost work-time incident. |
 | The Chesterfield, Virginia (U.S.), plant logging 3.5 million hours without
a lost work day. |
 | The Columbia and Anderson, South Carolina, sites were recognized for
outstanding safety performance by the South Carolina Manufacturers
Alliance. |
 | The Seelze, Germany, facility surpassing one million hours without either a
lost work day. |
Simply put, nothing is more important to us than safety.
It is an ongoing commitment, and one to which we are steadfastly dedicated.
