About the Program Honeywell Initiative for Returning Engineers

Honeywell Initiative for Returning Engineers (HIRE), an accelerated development program supported by the Society of Women Engineers, is designed to help on-ramping professional women make a seamless transition back to work.

At Honeywell, people are the ultimate differentiator. We hire the best; give them every possible opportunity to learn, grow and develop; and reward them for their contributions. Our size, industries and portfolio breadth enable people to have long and dynamic careers, progress into leadership positions and explore opportunities across businesses, functions and regions.

Our employees know their work is important and that customers value our technologies. Through these efforts, we continue to build a company with great positions in good industries, and a solid track record of financial performance.

Learning is a big part of our commitment to employees. Our approach includes on the job training, online courses, classroom learning and coaching. HIRE employees will be selected to take part in an accelerated development program during which Honeywell will provide developmental tools that enable participants to seamlessly jump back into the workforce and make an immediate impact.

The HIRE accelerated development program includes:

A trip to the 2008 or 2009 SWE National Conference: At the largest and most comprehensive career advancement and professional development event for women engineers, HIRE employees will have the chance to interact with peers, participate in enlightening activities and seminars, and share their experience with others.

Mentoring: Each employee will be assigned a mentor who can help guide them through challenges, develop their career, and ensure they continue to be fulfilled by exciting, meaningful work.

Leadership Development Training: Each employee will work with a manager to develop a unique development training program that will build upon their own skills and help them reach specific goals. Opportunities may include, for example, participation in the Smith College "Specialist to Strategist Program."

Green Belt Certification: Participants will be part of Honeywell's Six Sigma Plus program to educate professionals on the company's productivity principles and tools, how they are applied across the organization and how to incorporate them in their daily work. Certification requires completion of a project which demonstrates improved company performance.

A career at Honeywell means being a part of something big. Honeywell engineers can feel proud to work for a company that develops technologies, products and services that matter to people around the world and addresses global challenges such as energy efficiency, air safety, and homeland security.
