Types of apprenticeships on offer
|
 |
 |
 | | Honeywell Building Solutions offers places in one of two functions -
Projects or Service. Projects apprentices work on commissioning new systems
across our building automation or security systems division and ultimately
become Commissioning Technicians. Service Apprentices work towards becoming
Service Technicians and are responsible for the service, maintenance and
upgrades of these systems as well as some of the more mechanical components,
like the chillers and other equipment in plant rooms. |
Apprentices in both parts of the business will work across a range of
facilities, like hospitals, shopping centres, casinos (18+ years old),
correctional facilities (18+ years old), offices, museums, airports, train
stations, etc.
Apprentices work in two key areas:
Control Systems - Responsible for installing and commissioning
commercial building systems as well as writing software. This includes Heating,
Ventilation and Air-Conditioning systems (HVAC), Direct Digital Control systems
(DDC), Fire, Security, Access Control and Closed Circuit Television systems
(CCTV).
Refrigeration - Responsible for air-conditioning and associated
mechanical equipment plus minor electrical and controls work. You will be
involved with DDC control systems with an eye to running service work on
small-to-medium installations. You will attend a relevant TAFE course.
Honeywell Process Solutions (HPS) is offering opportunities within
their Service business focusing on the service and maintenance of complex
industrial control systems. Apprentices will also get the opportunities to
be involved in systems upgrades and commissioning activities.
HPS operates in a diverse range of facilities including mines, oil
rigs, paper mills, dairies and refineries.
Our apprentices study one of a number of courses under the Electrotechnology
training package. The main areas of study are instrumentation and
air-conditioning and refrigeration. Systems apprentices may also be put through
the computer systems or communications stream. HPS apprentices will study
Instrumentation and Control under the Electrotechnology package.
The Electrotechnology courses will not give you an electrical license at the
end of the four years but if this is something you want to pursue, Honeywell
will support further study.
