Honeywell Technologies To Help Astronauts Explore Lunar Surface

New NASA Space Suit to Be Equipped with Honeywell Data Processor and Displays

PHOENIX, December 18, 2008 – Honeywell (NYSE:HON) announced today that it will provide the avionics subsystem for the new Constellation Space Suit System that will be developed by Oceaneering International Inc.

“Honeywell will design, develop and integrate the advanced avionics for the Constellation Space Suit System as part of the Oceaneering team,” said Dave Douglass, Vice President, Honeywell Space. “The suit incorporates the latest in Honeywell technology, including a see-through Near To Eye display powered by a projector the size of a quarter. This displays data to the astronaut without diverting attention from the surrounding environment. And the suit will have Honeywell’s Organic Light Emitting Diode cuff display, specifically designed for operation in space.”

Combined with Honeywell’s real-time data processing, the space suit technologies will ensure that critical information such as consumables data, procedural and navigational information – as well as space suit performance – is available to the astronaut.

The new space suit system represents the first new suit design and development since the 1970s.

Honeywell’s legacy of successful human space system design and expertise includes developing space systems and equipment for every NASA human space mission. Honeywell also has contributed to the success of several commercial and military satellite and space exploration programs.
