Honeywell Expands Satellite TV Coverage For Business Jet Operators
China, India and Russia Included in Expanded Coverage Area for Free-To-Air
EBACE, GENEVA May 4, 2010 -- Honeywell (NYSE: HON) introduced today an
upgrade to its original business jet satellite TV system that will allow
operators to receive free-to-air satellite TV in three additional regions:
China, India and Russia.
“This new capability allows operators to enjoy the same level of TV service
they would have on the ground in these expanded coverage areas,” said Rob
Wilson, president, Business and General Aviation, Honeywell Aerospace.
“Additionally, operators of the existing Honeywell AIS-1000 system can update
the receiver software of their existing modules by downloading the software via
Honeywell’s AIS-2000 system typically works with the aircraft’s existing cabin
management system to provide control (display, channel selection and volume).
The software update provides the ability to receive free-to-air broadcasts in
Eastern China via the Apstar6 satellite, in Russia via the EutelsatW4 satellite
and in the sub-continent of India via the Insat4B satellite. Europe, the Middle
East and Africa were included in the initial release of the AIS-2000
Honeywell’s system features up to six independent receivers for individual
passenger viewing and control, a design that allows for simple configuration
without the need for re-wiring or additional LRUs to obtain TV coverage in
